Located in Parker County, Texas is a large city known as Weatherford. The city is located 60 miles west of Dallas and 120 miles east of Abilene. The population of Weatherford was almost 30,000 in 2016 according to the United States Census Bureau. It is the largest city in Parker County.
Weatherford came into existence when the need to establish a county seat for Parker County arose. The site of present-day Weatherford was chosen and subsequently,the city was developed. Weatherford is named in honor of Jefferson Weatherford, a member of the Texas Senate who co-authored the bill that established Parker County as a county. In 1858, Weatherford became an incorporated municipality.
